Monkshood:Tall Straight and Late

After summer is done it becomes increasingly difficult for many gardeners to have color in their yard. However, the reality is that there is a whole host of plants that bloom after Labor Day.
; Monkshoods is such a plant.
In my garden I have the variety named 'cloudy'. Of course as a meteorologist I like plants with a weather theme to them. However, its not just for the name I grow this plant. During fall the tall spikes of this plant will show many florets of a light blue/gray /violet color.
The plant will tolerate quite a bit of shade and this makes it ideal for a quiet corner of my woodland shade garden. Plant these in groups or 3, 5, or 7 for a very dramatic stand. Keep them moist during the hot summer months and they are sure to perform well for you.
