African violets are not hardy and therefore should just be used as a houseplant. They are easy to grow and just need a nice well lit area. Keep them away from cold and drafts. I water these plants from the bottom of the pot. I place the container in water until the soil becomes a bit moist. You should let the violets dry enough so the top of the soil is dry between watering.
