Spraying Water To Protect Plants
Spraying water on your tomatoes and other plants to keep them safe during a light frost or freeze is an easy way to extend the season just a bit longer.
The process of water going from a liquid to a solid, ice, actually releases a bit of heat. It is this heat that can save your crops
from damage if the temperature dips just a few degrees below freezing. This technique will not work if temperatures get below 28F and/or stay below freezing for many many hours.
However, if you have a light freeze or frost and warmer weather is expected this might be the very trick to keep the season going just a bit longer.
